ABOUT US

Oakdale Shelties is a small hobby kennel run by Cynthia Holmes. I breed my shelties to conform to the AKC standard striving for excellence in conformation, temperament and intelligence.  I had lots of animals growing up, horses, dogs and cats. My parents showed boxers and I showed in junior handling. I always wanted a smaller dog and when I got on my own, purchased a sheltie for a pet. I then decided I wanted another one so looked for a show quality sheltie. The dog show bug bit and I have been showing ever since.  I have finished 20 champions of my own with a very small limited breeding program.  I have also finished many champions for others.I breed on a very limited basis to keep my numbers manageable. I currently have 8 shelties. All sheltie pets are sold on a spay/neuter agreement and given a health guarantee.  All shelties are cleared for VWD, eye anomalies and hip dysplasia before being bred.  My shelties are first and foremost my treasured companions, then my show dogs.

I live here with my significant other, Martin Warhurst, who enjoys the shelties as much as I do. The house was built in 2005 with the dogs in mind. Our little piece of heaven is on 13 wooded acres with a creek and pond just south of Kansas City, Missouri. I designed a kennel building which is attached to the garage with heat/air. It is an L shape with six indoor/outdoor runs. The dogs have covered runs outside and an acre fenced to run and play. My dogs all get along and run together unless I have a female in heat. They are kept in the kennel at night and when we are gone. They have indoor time in the morning, evenings and weekends with us in our family room. We have a "puppy room" off the family room where our puppies are born and raised. The oldsters stay in the house 24/7.
